WQPT will host Ready to Learn Multilingual Education Conference on May 18th

MOLINE, IL – – Western Illinois University, in collaboration with WQPT PBS and in partnership with WIU-QC, Graduate Center, Early Childhood Coalition of the Quad Cities, and StarNet Regions I and III, will host the Ready to Learn Multilingual Education Conference starting on the 9th. To do. Thursday, May 18th, a.m.-3 p.m. This conference builds on the success of the Ready to Learn Early Childhood Conference and Beyond ESL Conference previously held in the Quad Cities.
This conference invites educators, caregivers, and community members to explore a variety of topics related to the theory and practice of multilingual education for students from early childhood to adulthood. The conference will feature keynote speakers, various breakout sessions, and opportunities for community organizations to share information.
“We are thrilled to have keynote speakers Arena Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamlet join us to share Learn, Sing, Create: An interactive exploration of the role of art and creativity in language learning.” said Education Director Melissa Grabert. Outreach on WQPT PBS.
Later in the day, the entire Being Bilingual Rocks will join the participants. The band will be holding a free family concert at WIU-QC, rain or shine, from 6pm to 7pm. Everyone can sing, dance, learn Spanish or English, and play music games in a fun and unique blend of cultures, sounds, and languages.
Professional development credits are available for applicable conference sessions from ISBE and Gateways. Lunch will be available for purchase. Registration and more information can be found at wqpt.org/rtl.
