On March 27, a new intensive care unit was installed in Winchester Medical Center's critical care unit in memory of Dr. Mark Clinton, who passed away from cancer in 2018.
Dr. Clinton's specialty was palliative care, including caregiver care. He was an excellent clinician, a caring health care provider, and a solid partner. He worked at Valley Intensive Care Physicians for his five years until his death.
Since his passing, nearly $30,000 has been donated in his memory. These generous donations can help provide bicycle helmets for children at local safety fairs, trauma kits for first responders to stabilize patients until medical services arrive, snacks and more. I even help create the Friday Fun Cart, which is a cart filled with accessories. Bringing smiles to the faces of our team members who care for Valley Health's most critical patients.
“A gift in someone's memory makes a huge impact and keeps the memory of a loved one alive,” says Jenny Grooms, executive director of Valley Health Foundations. “Thanks to your incredible gift to Dr. Clinton, I was able to dedicate my space to benefit his colleagues and all those who will come after him. Now, I am honored to serve alongside him.” Those who did not can still learn about his legacy of kindness and compassion.”
Intensive care units accommodate a large number of healthcare workers who use the space for meetings, relaxation, and meals. The dedication ceremony in March was organized by Dr. Glenn Buder and Kathy Price, Valley Intensive Care Hospital office coordinator, and was attended by nearly 40 colleagues and many of Dr. Clinton's family members. Several Valley Health providers and team members shared their memories of Dr. Clinton at the dedication ceremony.
