The Peoria Education Foundation awarded $50,000 in scholarships to 28 Peoria Unified High School seniors this year.
Scholarship recipients were recognized at a scholarship reception held on April 2nd at Centennial High School.
The Peoria Education Foundation awards a variety of scholarships to high school seniors in the following categories:
The Against All Odds Scholarship recognizes Peoria Unified High School seniors who have overcome adversity and significant obstacles to meet graduation requirements and plan to continue their education.
Community Service Scholarships recognize students who demonstrate strong commitment to the community and excel academically. Each student awarded this scholarship completed over 100 hours of community service.
The Joseph McCord Memorial Scholarship is designed to recognize high school students who have a passion for history and plan to continue their education beyond secondary school.
The Dr. Santarelli Leadership Scholarship recognizes the accomplishments of graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout their high school careers.
The Rosella and Hugo Sickinger Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one female student who has demonstrated leadership and poise.
Finally, the Project Unify Scholarship & Award is presented to exemplary partners and athletes who participate in Unified Sports programs on high school campuses.
