Wailele Farms has partnered with Friends of Twin Falls to provide scholarship opportunities to individuals directly affected by the Kula Fire.
This scholarship will support their pursuit of higher education. Two $1,000 scholarships will be provided as financial assistance to high school students in grades 11 through 12 and students attending high school graduation programs or vocational schools. The application deadline is April 26th.
Applicants must be Maui residents who were directly affected by the Kula Fire. The scholarships are funded by Wairere Farms in partnership with Friends of Twin Falls.
“We understand the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by the Kula fire. Through this scholarship, we are supporting those who are striving for higher education despite the adversity they face. We look forward to providing support and encouragement to all,” the statement said.
In addition to scholarship opportunities, Friends of Twin Falls hosts Kamaaina-only Saturdays. On that day, the farm will be open only to Hawaii residents with a valid driver's license. This initiative allows communities to reconnect with nature through open access to farms.
“We believe in fostering a connection to nature, especially during difficult times,” said the new nonprofit Friends of Twin Falls. “Our Kamaaina exclusive Saturdays offer the local community an opportunity to relax, explore and rejuvenate (away from the tourist crowds) among the beautiful Wairere Farms.”
In addition to this monthly event, field trips to visit farms are offered to local schools.
