Kehle to run program for women
Penn State Altoona Athletics announced Friday that Tom Kole, head coach of the NCAA Division III men's golf program, has been named head coach of the department's new women's golf team.
Penn State Altoona announced last August that it would add women's golf to its NCAA Division III athletic program.
The team will begin intercollegiate play in the 2024-25 season.
Cole has been the head coach of Penn State Altoona's men's golf program for 18 years. During his tenure, the Lions won the Allegheny Mountain College Conference Championship eight times and appeared in the NCAA Division III postseason seven times. Cole has been named AMCC Coach of the Year three times.
The 2024-25 women's golf season will be the first time since the mid-2000s that Penn State Altoona will have a full roster for women's golf. The department has sponsored several female golfers who have competed as individuals at the NCAA level over the past decade, but next season will see the return of women's golf as a fully team sport at Penn State Altoona.
The women's golf team's 2024-25 schedule is expected to be announced this summer.
