PrizePix Announces Expansion of Atlanta Operations by Hiring 1,000 More Employees Over Seven Years
ATLANTA — Fantasy sports company PrizePix is expanding its operations in Atlanta, announcing Thursday that it will hire 1,000 more employees over seven years.
The company said it plans to invest $25 million in an office building northwest of downtown that it plans to lease for its new headquarters.
The company is hiring for positions such as software engineers, analysts, and marketers. PrizePix doesn't disclose how much its employees are paid, but co-founder and CEO Adam Wexler described its employees as “highly skilled and well paid.”
Founded in Atlanta, the company currently has more than 500 full-time and 160 part-time employees. Some of our employees are located in the Philippines.
“Atlanta has always been our home, where we are redefining mobile sports entertainment,” Wexler said.
A bill to allow sports betting in Georgia failed again this year, so it remains illegal. But PrizePicks and other fantasy sports websites operating in the state say they offer games of skill rather than chance. Players earn prize money by selecting an athlete and earning points based on that athlete's performance. The company says it has more than 5 million registered users, and players can compete for prizes in cornhole as well as contests from major American sports leagues.

State and local officials have not disclosed what incentives they offered to PrizePicks. The company will be eligible for a state income tax credit of $1,750 per job over five years, for a total of $8.75 million, as long as employees earn at least $31,300 annually.
