Yahoo has acquired Artifact, an AI-driven news aggregation and discovery platform developed by Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. After this acquisition, Artifact will no longer work as a standalone app. The unique AI-powered personalization technology and other features will be integrated across Yahoo, including the Yahoo News app, in the coming months.
The acquisition advances Yahoo's efforts to deliver trusted news and information to hundreds of millions of users around the world, the release said. It also accelerates Yahoo's vision to provide a more personalized experience for discovering news and information across our platforms.

“Yahoo was one of the first companies to combine human news curation with algorithmic news curation. Since then, the machine learning and personalization landscape has changed dramatically, and Artifact has stepped up to the plate. Artifact's mission focused on leveraging proprietary technology to deliver a curated news and content experience, delivering the most relevant stories to users through AI.
Bringing these capabilities into Yahoo's portfolio accelerates the opportunity to connect users with richer content experiences and customized personalization, the release added.

According to the site, Artifact is a “personalized news feed powered by artificial intelligence (AI).” This app was introduced by Systrom and Krieger. twitter So the pair encouraged users to sign up and join the community.
The app is still in private beta mode, but in an interview with social network and platform news site Platformer, Systrom said the easiest way to understand the app is to think of it as TikTok for texts. When you open the app, you'll see a feed of popular articles carefully selected from a carefully selected list of publishers. These publishers include sites like the New York Times and small blogs focused on niche topics. When you tap on an article, Artifact's algorithm remembers and serves similar posts and stories in the future.
According to the Financial Times, the app uses AI to ensure you avoid “filter bubbles” by also promoting content that might challenge your previous views. This app essentially encapsulates its name, representing a fusion of articles, facts, and artificial intelligence.
