City Councilman Will Jawando will host two public forums to answer questions about next year's county education budget.
Montgomery College President Jermaine F. Williams and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Interim Superintendent Monique Felder will attend the forum.
The first forum will be held at Montgomery College's Germantown campus Wednesday at 6 p.m. The second will be held April 16 at 6 p.m. at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County Education Association expressed disappointment after County Executive Mark Elrich designated $3.3 billion for MCPS as part of his proposed 2025 operating budget.
“We are proud that the Elrich County Executive, a former teacher and advocate for public education as an elected leader, has proposed an MCPS budget that does not honor the school board’s already inadequate demands. “We regret this,” the union said.
Jawando, chair of the Montgomery County Council Education and Culture Committee, invited the community to submit questions prior to the discussion. here.
