The Cameroon Football Federation has expressed “big surprise” after the country's Sports Ministry appointed Mark Bliss as the new head coach of the Indomitable Lions.
The 61-year-old Belgian, who was most recently at OH Leuven, has been chosen to replace former Liverpool and West Ham defender Rigoberto Song.
However, Mr Fekafut appears to have been unaware of the impending appointment and said the decision was “made unilaterally”.
“The Cameroonian Football Federation, together with all Cameroonians, has learned of his appointment to a position of responsibility in the national senior men's football selection,” a statement on social media said.
It added that the governing body “intends to clarify this unfortunate situation” and “will communicate without delay” regarding “further action”.
Former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has been the president of Fecafoot since December 2021.
The Ministry of Sport announced that Bryce would be supported by Joachim Mununga and Giannis Kyiroulis, but did not specify the length of the contract.
Former Cameroon international striker François Omam Biyik, who played in three World Cups, was among a wide range of technical, medical and administrative staff appointed.
