Gabriel Chicoine scored midway through the third period as the Maine Mariners rallied to defeat the Trois-Rivières Lions 4-3 in ECHL action Saturday in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
Maine took a 3-2 lead on second-period goals from the Lions' Nicholas Gay and Yakov Novak. Maine tied the score with 2:32 left in the game when Owen Pederson scored.
Trois-Rivières took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from Cedric Montminy, but the Mariners tied it just over two minutes later on a goal from Brooklyn Kalmykov. Maine took the lead 1:52 into the second period with a goal by Alex Kyle.
Shane Starrett stopped 22 shots for Maine and Strauss Mann had 12 saves for Trois-Rivières.
NHL: Sam Reinhart scored the only shootout goal, Aleksander Barkov scored two goals in regulation and the Florida Panthers defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in Sunrise, Florida.
Sergei Bobrovsky was big in the penalty shootout, making 20 saves for Florida, which had lost six of its previous seven games.
• Jonathan Marchessault scores a goal into an empty net 3:30 into overtime, giving the Vegas Golden Knights a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Minnesota, hoping to close the gap in the race for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference, pulled goaltender Filip Gustafsson about three minutes into overtime. However, Las Vegas regained control of the puck and Marchessault took a shot from near his own blue line that found the back of the net for his 40th point of the season.
As a result, due to a rule that penalizes the losing team by pulling the goaltender in overtime, Vegas ended up with two points and Minnesota got none.

PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler made a double bogey on what he thought was a good shot, but responded with back-to-back birdies to finish with a 4-under 66 and a tie for fifth place at the Houston Open lead.
Scheffler is trying to become the first player since Dustin Johnson in 2017 to win his first three PGA Tour tournaments, and will likely be in pole position among players with little experience winning on tour.
David Skins, a 42-year-old from England, shot a 65 to take his first record at 9-under 201. He was joined by Germany's Stefan Jaeger (66), Belgium's Thomas Detry (67) and Alejandro Tosti. Argentina (68 years old), all trying for their first PGA Tour victory.

XFINITY: Chandler Smith took the lead with 59 laps remaining, winning the spring NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway for the second year in a row.
Smith led the seventh 1-2-3 finish for Joe Gibbs Racing, with Aric Almirola second and Taylor Gray third in his first series start.
Corey Heim finished fourth, giving Toyota the top-four finishing position for the second time, with Jesse Love fifth and Bubba Pollard sixth, also making his first start in the series.
