Final: LSU 78, UCLA 69
In a thrilling game from start to finish, the No. 3 Tigers defeated No. 2 UCLA. Fraujai Johnson was the hero for LSU, scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, then seemingly making all the big plays. The defending champions advance to the Elite Eight and will face the winner of Iowa vs. Colorado.
The Tigers lead by seven points with 12.7 seconds left.
Angel Reese fouled out with 31 seconds left. On her way off the court, she said something to the UCLA bench, which her coach Cori Close is furious about.
Hailey Van Lith made two free throws to give the Tigers a six-point lead.
And an offensive foul on UCLA on the other side! Barring a miracle, that may be possible here. The Tigers head to the foul line already up by four points.
Floje Johnson's scoop gives the Tigers a 4-point lead!
Lauren Betts hit the front end but missed second.
Aneesa Morrow was whistled for a foul on UCLA's Betts as she attempted a layup. 2 strokes difference.
The Bruins had possession of the ball and were up by three points.
With less than two minutes left in the game, the Tigers led 68-67.
Great play from UCLA's Lauren Betts. Kim Mulkey is beside herself.
And right now, Lauren Betts has four fouls, as does LSU's Arya Del Rosario. This may come down to who can stay on the floor the longest.
The game is still tied 60-60. Angel Rees was on the bench with four fouls, but with four minutes remaining, that wouldn't last long.
That foul is huge. Reese immediately headed to the bench. Kiki Rice made both free throws. UCLA's offense is already open when they hit the 3s. The Bruins have a chance to extend a big lead while Reese is out. We saw this make the difference in his win over LSU in the University of South Carolina's regular season.
Angel Reese just caught his fourth foul in a key moment here.
End of 3rd quarter: UCLA 48, LSU 48
The Bruins started having trouble making 3-point shots, and with the Tigers struggling with foul trouble, the Bruins ended the third quarter on a tear. It's a close game until the fourth.
The Bruins took the lead on a 3-pointer by Londyn Jones. They are currently on a roll at 8-0.
Aneesah Moreau, Angel Reese, and Aaliyah Del Rosario currently have three fouls, so the Tigers are not a deep team. Let's see how UCLA cuts the lead to two points and how that affects them down the stretch.
