Aspen Valley Hospital (AVH)'s vision is to care for patients' injuries and illnesses, as well as to foster the community of the Roaring Fork Valley. Our focus on prevention, health and well-being positions us as the nation's healthiest company.
To this end, the AVH Foundation is launching a new symposium on the Aspen Institute campus over the weekend from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 9. Focusing on the timely topic of longevity, keynote speakers will be delivered by Paul Grewal, M.D. (who works in private practice and as a scientific consultant in New York City), and speakers including Rebecca Laird, M.D. (AVH cardiologist); Doctors participated. Joseph Ruzbarski (Stedman Clinic) has repaired and replaced more knees, shoulders and hips than his friends and family can count.
As a physician, author, and speaker, Dr. Grewal focuses on data-driven nutrition and lifestyle strategies for metabolic health and longevity. He is drawn to helping others find a sustainable path to health, as he himself has lost and kept off nearly 100 pounds. He is also the co-author of the New York Times bestselling book Genius Foods, an evidence-based guide to dementia prevention and cognitive optimization.
A welcome cocktail reception with AVH physicians kicked off the weekend, followed by Dr. Grewal's presentation on “The Future of Health and Longevity Medicine: Personal Health Decision Making in the Age of Information Overload.”
“Being healthy starts with being informed,” said Dave Ressler, CEO of Aspen Valley Hospital. “We have a strong lineup of national and local experts,” he said.
On Saturday afternoon, seven breakout sessions or “Mini Ted Talks” were presented by physicians from AVH, Stedman Clinic, Radiology Imaging Associates, and others on related topics from around the world of surgery, orthopedics, and more.
“For many of us, enjoying an active lifestyle is at the heart of living in Aspen,” said symposium organizer Cori Berger.
