The United Nations Foundation today announced that Dr. Ahmed Ogwell Ouma has been selected as the next Vice President for Global Health Strategy. Mr. Ogwell will lead one of the United Nations Foundation's largest portfolios, spanning global health policy, advocacy, convening and grantmaking, in support of the United Nations and its health-related causes.

Ogwell brings 28 years of experience in public health at the national, regional and global levels to the United Nations Foundation. He most recently joined the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) after a long tenure that included acting director and founding deputy director during a period of significant growth and transformation for the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). Served as acting deputy director. Continental public health institutions. At the Africa CDC, he led the development of Africa CDC's new regulations and advanced the vision of a new public health order for Africa. He managed the facility's response to COVID-19 and various other health threats. Prior to joining Africa CDC, Ogwell held prominent roles in health policy and health diplomacy at the World Health Organization and Kenya's Ministry of Health, working on a wide range of issues from non-communicable diseases to health emergencies.

Since its founding in 1998, the United Nations Foundation has prioritized global health. Mr. Ogwell will be based in the Foundation's Washington, DC office.
