HUGHESVILLE — Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Dr. Khalid Mumin recently visited the Lycoming Career Technology Center (LycoCTC) on a tour led by Executive Director Nate Miniam.
The visit will highlight the impactful programs offered at the center, one of several schools in Lycoming County, to help students prepare for diverse career paths. The aim was to emphasize the importance of vocational education in
Accompanying Moomin were directors from each of LycoCTC's six member districts, including Director of Records Dr. Craig Scarba. James Geffken of the Benton Area School District. Dr. Mark Stam of the East Lycoming School District; Gerald McLaughlin of Loyasock Township School District; Dan Taormina of the Montoursville Area School District; and Dr. Thor Edmiston of the Warrior Run School District.
The highlight of the visit was the interaction between Moomin and the students from the Health Sciences program. Under the guidance of instructors, students had the opportunity to show off their skills by measuring vital signs.
In addition to the health sciences program, Moomin and the visiting superintendent had the opportunity to explore other programs offered at LycoCTC, including the automotive, construction industry, and culinary programs.
Throughout his visit, Mr. Scarba emphasized the importance of state funding dedicated to expanding career and technical center programs.
LycoCTC serves approximately 310 students who participate in seven different programs for part of the day while continuing with their high school core academic classes and extracurricular activities.
