With the expansion of the highly acclaimed program to eastern Polk County, aspiring teachers will have the opportunity to earn Polk State University's Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree at the Winter Haven campus.
Classes will begin in August 2024. Public recruitment begins on June 10th. The Polk State Education Program will hold an information session.
- Wednesday, April 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Winter Haven Campus, WST 126.
- Thursday, April 11th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Lakeland campus in LTB 1100.
Polk State University is proud to be the only public higher education institution in Polk County offering a state-accredited teacher education preparation program. This is also why it is important for the university to expand its offerings to the Winter Haven campus, where students can not only earn a bachelor's degree but also participate in field experience and internships on the east side of the county.
More than 160 Polk State Education graduates work in the 56 Polk County Public Schools, Polk County's largest employer, and the school's graduates boast a 100% pass rate on teacher certification exams. To give students a competitive edge for employment, Polk State University also offers English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Excellence in Student Education (ESE); Reading Recommended K-12 Competencies within the Curriculum.
