2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of eCELLAR.
The Napa Valley-based e-commerce and customer management platform “has introduced numerous innovations in the winery direct-to-consumer revolution that has occurred over the past quarter century,” the news release said.
It was founded in 1999 by computer scientist Paul Thienes.
In its 25-year history, eCELLAR has introduced numerous innovations in direct-to-consumer (DtC) technology for wineries, according to the release.
“Wineries have always been particularly precise and careful in how they communicate with their customers, and we felt from the beginning that winery data and access to that data was paramount to our DtC efforts,” said Tinnes. Ta.
“Whether you are developing an e-commerce system, a POS system, or a quota system, storing and accessing customer data is the foundation of the eCELLAR platform so that wineries can easily go about their business of providing a great customer experience. I always knew I needed to be.”

Thienes said he expects eCELLAR and the wine industry's next 25 years of direct-to-consumer sales and marketing to be much like the first 25 years: adapting to change.
“Demographics, technology, and consumer expectations will drive the evolution of DtC platforms like eCELLAR over the next quarter century. However, we believe that this future will be data-driven. “This will give wineries access to data and the ability to explore that data in a variety of ways,” Tiens predicted.
“While we don't yet know how young, digitally native consumers will interact with wineries and their tasting rooms, we do know that some of them will be affluent consumers who interact with wineries.” said.
“The job of winery e-commerce and CRM platforms like eCELLAR is to ensure that our clients can meet and serve potential customers wherever they are: in the tasting room, on their website, over the phone, or on the Internet. The next device is coming down the pike.”
