Cary, North Carolina – USA Baseball hosted a Youth and Amateur Leadership Summit on Tuesday, March 19th in Cary, North Carolina. As the national governing body of USA Baseball, the organization hosted this event to strengthen collaboration with member organizations and key figures in the sport across the United States and promote widespread adoption and implementation of USA Baseball's initiatives and standards. did.
Attendees gathered in the morning at the DoubleTree Raleigh Cary Hotel to hear presentations from various staff from USA Baseball and Major League Baseball, including the president of USA Baseball. The breakout session featured several of USA Baseball's established programs and initiatives to advance the sport at the amateur level across the United States.
The initiatives and programs included in the breakout sessions are:
- Baseball 5 – America's hipster new partner in entertainment. Designed to make baseball more accessible to everyone, it shares the same basic principles as traditional baseball and can be played by anyone, anywhere.
- BASE (Baseball Player Safety Education) – USA Baseball is committed to a zero-tolerance campaign for abuse of any kind in the sport of baseball.
- baseball education – Resources to help highlight a culture of development, safety and fun in sport.
- coach clinic – An initiative that provides coaches with the opportunity to learn and grow by networking with colleagues while participating in on-field demonstrations.
- Fun at bat – An enriching program that teaches the basics of baseball through elementary school physical education classes.
- PDP (Prospect Development Pipeline) Performance Evaluation – A comprehensive series of assessments utilizing cutting-edge technology to measure cognitive skills, processing speed, athletic performance, and on-field talent through technology created by Diamond Kinetics, Rapsodo, and TrackMan.
- Referee recruitment – An initiative that focuses on understanding the basic skills needed to referee matches, strengthens referee education and training, and provides tips for conflict resolution.
USA Baseball aims to be the leader in amateur baseball. The organization continually creates and implements ways to improve the gaming experience at a grassroots level, and takes pride in sharing its latest innovations with other key partners and organizations.
