NBCUniversal Media Group has promoted veteran executive David Pietrica to the newly created role of chief business officer, reporting to group chairman Mark Lazarus.
Pietrycha held the title of Vice President of Strategy and Business Development.
In this newly created role, Pietrycha will be responsible for developing strategies that drive the evolution and growth of the business. He works closely with functional leaders on key resource allocation and investment decisions such as content rights, strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and new business development, and drives these initiatives across his group's media and business businesses. The portfolio includes NBCU's broadcast and entertainment cable networks, direct-to-consumer businesses including Peacock, NBC Sports properties, international networks, affiliate relationships, content distribution and advertising sales.

Most recently, Pietrica held the title of Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, where she led strategy for major sports rights negotiations including the NFL, NASCAR, and WWE. He also played a key role in determining new business opportunities and distribution initiatives, renewals of the NBC series, and additional key portfolio decisions across linear and streaming platforms.
Previously, Mr. Pietrica served as Chief Financial Officer of NBC Sports Group, where he was responsible for NBC Sports Group's assets, including NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, NBCSN, Golf Channel, 11 NBC Sports regional networks, NBC Sports Radio, and NBC Sports Group Digital. Provided financial and strategic oversight. Prior to his role in the sports division, Pietrica held financial leadership positions at NBC News Group and her NBC-owned television station division.
