Stacey Jewett has passionately provided care for decades as a clinic director at several Sanford Health locations. During that time, members of her team viewed her as a thoughtful leader who put patient welfare first.
When it came time to choose the 2024 Becky Nelson Nursing Leadership Fellow, she was a worthy choice. Her commitment to the profession, combined with her tradition of seeking new challenges, will make the coming year an engaging and rewarding one for her and those associated with the fellowship.
“This gives us an opportunity to look at other parts of our health care system,” said Jewett, who has been Sanford Health's clinic director since 2018 and has been with Sanford's clinics for more than 20 years. he said.

A quarter century at Sanford
Ms. Jewett, who grew up in Dell Rapids, South Dakota and earned her nursing degree at South Dakota State, began her career as a pediatric nurse, then moved to cardiology and then into the “clinic world” in 2001.
During her 25 years at Sanford Health, she has held several leadership positions. Jewett currently oversees four family medicine clinics, including one on the Augustana University campus in the Falls area, and she leads a team of outpatient RNs and care managers in the region. Masu.
“The best thing about my time at Sanford was the relationships I built with the people I worked with,” Jewett said. “This includes other directors, other leaders within Sanford, nurses, health care providers. And I still enjoy being able to care for patients.”
Mr. Jewett's leadership was instrumental in many efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly establishing drive-through testing sites, operating vaccine clinics, and building strong relationships among teams and with other system leaders.

This fellowship was established in 2014 to honor Becky Nelson for her contributions to Sanford Health. Nelson began her career as a nurse and spent decades at Sanford Health, retiring as the organization's chief operating officer. She returned in her 2018 role as Chief of Staff for the Good Samaritan Society, leading its integration with Sanford Health.
“When I look back on my nursing career, Sanford has been very good to me and there have always been opportunities to advance and do things differently,” Jewett said. “It's really about the people I interacted with and how they helped me grow as an individual and maybe pushed me a little bit.
