BROCKWAY – Local students gathered at the Brockwayville Depot Center for an engaging educational experience.
Sponsored by Seneca Resources Company, “Energy Explorers” was designed to introduce students to the complex world of energy, with a particular focus on the role of the natural gas industry in fueling our planet.
Led by enthusiastic employee volunteers, students engaged in interactive experiments and demonstrations, gaining valuable insight into the sustainable development of natural gas and its diverse uses in daily life.
Activities include using microscopes to examine the porosity of different types of rocks, conducting water quality experiments to understand environmental impacts, and using FLIR cameras to study emissions. included.
One of the highlights of the program was a comparison of the amount of gas produced by horizontal and vertical drilling methods, providing insight into industry practices and technology.
The event aimed to not only educate students about the science behind natural gas exploration and production, but also to inspire curiosity and passion for STEM fields.

Twelve young learners participated in the event, some of whom traveled as far as Montoursville, Pennsylvania, demonstrating the program's broad appeal and impact within the community.
Parents praised the educational value of the initiative and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to involve their children in a hands-on learning experience.
Plans are underway to expand the program to other regions, further continuing Seneca's commitment to inspiring the next generation of innovators and industry leaders.
