DGFT has been actively working to promote e-commerce exports from the country by leveraging the 'District as Export Hub' initiative.
We collaborate with various e-commerce platforms and other service providers to conduct capacity building and training sessions in identified districts.
“The goal is to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to tap international markets through e-commerce channels,” the ministry said.
“Today, DGFT will partner with DHL through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering 76 districts in three phases to conduct capacity building sessions, trainings and workshops to make Indian MSMEs export ready.” Stated.
During the MoU signing event, Commerce Secretary Sunil Bhaswal noted the progress India has taken towards building digital infrastructure that can be leveraged to facilitate connectivity of rural MSMEs to global markets.
He hoped that this exercise would help Indian entrepreneurs bridge the knowledge gap and enter the world of international trade.
DGFT Santosh Sarangi said the partnership aims to introduce exporters/MSMEs to the digital commerce space, export 'Make in India' products, tap overseas customers and improve logistics while exporting through India. He said that there is an opportunity to overcome the challenges associated with this. e-commerce route.
In line with Foreign Trade Policy 2023, in the past few months, DGFT has signed MoUs with Amazon India and Shiprocket covering 20 and 16 districts respectively.
Collaboration with these e-commerce platforms and service providers facilitated a series of outreach events by DGFT regional authorities to facilitate onboarding of new exporters.
