Daiichi BankBased in the Shenandoah Valley, it is expanding into the Roanoke Valley. First Bank already has operations in Vautourt County and would like to open a branch in downtown Roanoke.
Todd Ross, the individual who led First Bank's expansion, previously worked as a banker and lender at Pinnacle Bank in Roanoke.
“I can say we're making investments in places with the right market leaders and the right teams in place,” said Dennis Dysart, president and chief operating officer of First Bank.
First Bank, a native of the northern Shenandoah Valley, is a Strasburg-based bank with 20 branches and $1.4 billion in total assets. The company acquired Fincastle Bank in 2021 and began expansion in the Roanoke Valley. All of its regional chapters are concentrated in Voateur County: Blue Ridge, Daleville, Fincastle, Troutville, and Cloverdale.

Last month, the government submitted a new branch application to the State Corporation Commission to occupy the former BB&T branch location at 310 First St., S.D., but Dysart said Tuesday that there are no barriers to approval. He said he didn't know either. If approved, the branch is expected to open around June 1st.
