- Elon Musk is not a fan of the Academy Awards.
- “Winning an Oscar means winning a woke contest,” Musk said Sunday.
- Musk said the award had been “diluted” and “no longer respected.”
Elon Musk believes the Academy Awards are not as prestigious as they once were.
“Winning an Oscar means winning a woke contest,'' Musk said. I have written X on Sunday, when this year's awards ceremony began.
“When an award is diluted, everyone knows about it, including the recipient, and it is no longer respected,” he wrote in his paper. Subsequent posts.
What exactly made Musk think about this year's Oscar-nominated films, including Greta Gerwig's “Barbie” and Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer,” that made him “woke”? was not disclosed. But his dissatisfaction with Oscar is tied to criticism of companies' diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and a massive ongoing war against anything he considers “woke.” It seems so.
“DEI is just another word for racism. Shame on those who use it,” Musk wrote in January.
In February, former mixed martial arts fighter and actress Gina Carano said Musk's X Corporation was funding a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm.
Carano sued the company for wrongful termination and defamation after she was fired in 2021 following a series of social media controversies.Carano was accused of sharing the transphobic right wing contentafter which fans of “The Mandalorian” demanded that she be removed from the series.
It's not just the entertainment industry. Last month, Musk took down Google after a user claimed the company's Gemini chatbot's image generation was “woke.” Musk accused Google of running an “insane, racist and anti-civilization program.”
Musk wasn't the only famous person attending the awards ceremony. Former President Donald Trump also posted his thoughts on the Oscars on Truth Social, calling the ceremony a “very bad political” event.
A representative for Mr. Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider outside of normal business hours.
