MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN) — Local business owners in Marana are channeling their grief for the greater good of the community. Her business, Nurse Next Door, helps people in southern Arizona.
Tracy Raymond started Nurse Next Door in Marana, but now works throughout southern Arizona from Nogales to Picture Rocks.
“What we do is provide care at home,” Raymond said. “We are trying to help seniors stay in their homes as much as possible.”
They are also authorized by the Veterans Administration to assist veterans with everything from doctor's appointments to daily life, Raymond said.
“We're really trying to get the word out about it,” Raymond said. “It's about letting people know that if you're a veteran receiving benefits, you can actually get community care hours for care if your doctor prescribes it.”
Her late husband was the driving force behind starting her business.
“My husband passed away while I was on a travel contract,” Raymond said. “And he really talked to me about how I wanted to serve in the community, how I wanted to help people who were getting out of the hospital, and how I wanted to do whatever I could to keep them out of the hospital.”
