Neil Warnock has harshly criticized the role played by VAR in Aberdeen's 2-1 defeat to St Mirren, going so far as to call it “disgraceful”.
It took match officials nearly four minutes to decide that Nicky Devlin had fouled Toyosi Olusanya inside the penalty area rather than outside, allowing the Buddies to equalize from the spot.
Mark O'Hara converted the penalty and Olusanya scored the winning goal a minute later.
“I'm not sure about the penalty. VAR is disgraceful,” Warnock said.
“How can you wait four or five minutes on a freezing afternoon? This boy (Olusanya) knows what he has to overcome, so he did well. Where can Devlin put his feet? Or?
“He can't put his foot anywhere else. When he gave the free-kick, at first I thought he gave us a free-kick. I think it is necessary to acquire it.
“I asked him (referee Nick Walsh) if he knew what it was like to be on your feet for five minutes with that much effort.
“My lads were having convulsions and three or four of them were struggling. One of them, Richard. [Jensen]I only came this morning because Jack was gone. [Milne]I couldn't move.
“With five minutes left he said, 'I can't move.' And he's marking the young man. You shouldn't be standing there for five minutes on a blood-curdling afternoon for VAR. It’s a scandal.”
