JACKSON, Tenn. — One incident proves you can have faith while working in the marketplace.
Union University's McAfee School of Business hosted a Faith in the Marketplace Luncheon.
I spoke to Colleen Trent, associate professor of economics at Union, and she said this is an annual event.
“The purpose of this event is to bring in guest speakers who have lived very successful lives in the business world, but who have also been very committed to their faith,” Trent said.
Trent said this is a great thing for everyone to see and know.
“This is truly a resource for students, faculty and the community,” Trent said.
She wants everyone to know the essence of being a business person.
“Business is often seen as being about greed and profit, but people often don't realize that business is actually a great way to steward God's resources,” Trent said. said.
Trent said that we should always include God at the center of everything we do.
“He calls us to use our talents and gifts, multiply them, and give them back to Him. That's exactly what our guest speakers here today have done,” Trent said. Told.
Alan Barnhart, CEO of Barnhart Crane and Rigging, spoke to approximately 300 attendees at the luncheon.
He advised them to avoid being tied down by money, even if their business grows.
“He donated half of his company to Christian causes and in that way was able to be a great steward of God's resources,” Trent said.
