The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Educational Foundation has welcomed Laura Bishop as its board chair.
Bishop, managing principal of Laura Bishop Communications (LBC), operates businesses in Ocean City and Cherry Hill and works with many education clients in Cape May County.
LBC is known for its niche work with schools to develop and implement comprehensive communications programs and effective communications campaigns to inform voters about school bond referendums.
“For most of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from educators,” Bishop, a longtime member of the Cape May County Chamber, said in a news release. “Serving on the Foundation Board is an opportunity to collaborate with other professionals who share my passion for educational initiatives and, in this case, expanding opportunities for students, families, schools, and communities in Cape May County. Mr. Bishop succeeds Teresa Budd, the foundation's immediate past chair.
“I am especially grateful to Terry for leading the Foundation with professionalism, dedication, and humor during a period of transition in the Chamber,” she said in the release. “I have a proverbial big job ahead of me.”
Bishop was recognized as a 2020 “Outstanding Woman” by the Philadelphia Business Journal for her professional accomplishments. She was also named one of Southern New Jersey's People's “Top Women in Business” and a “Superwoman” by South Jersey Magazine.
“Laura is a phenomenal person and we are honored to have her serve as Chair of the Education Foundation Board of Directors,” said Cape May County Chamber of Commerce President Barbara Jones. “She brings extensive expertise that will help the Foundation grow.”
A strong believer in providing mentorship and opportunities to students and young professionals, Bishop serves on the advisory board of the Rowan College of Communication and Creative Arts and as the Rowan Chair of the Lillian Copenhaver Center for Women's Communication Skills, run by LBC. I am a member of the branch. We sponsor student interns.
Bishop recently took on a new challenge as an adjunct professor in the Department of Business at Atlantic Cape Community College, where he teaches marketing principles.
“Laura is a great addition to the Education Foundation Board,” said Cape May County Chamber Chair Amy Mahon. “Her experience in the education field will support the Foundation's mission to provide education and training skills to young professionals.”
The Foundation Board also includes Ocean First Bank Vice President MaryFrancis O'Neill, Burke Motor Group Vice President Doug Burke, Laura Bishop Communications Treasurer Mary Farrell, and Cape Regional Health System Secretary Tom・Mr. Piratsky was also selected.
The Board also welcomed a new member, Tusa Magalogo-Fitisemanu of Cape Assist. Jamie Moscony, Cape May County Technical School, and John Lynch, Wildwood Convention Center.
The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation was established in 2015 to support, strengthen and promote educational training programs that develop the skills, knowledge and leadership of local professionals and youth.
