overview
The Office of Educator Pipelines, Pathways, and Preparation oversees the program approval and reauthorization of the Educator Preparation Program (EPP). This process is conducted collaboratively by the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) and the Professional Practice Standards Commission (PPSC) and includes initial approval and reapproval of educator preparation programs. Institutions offering educator preparation programs leading to licensure in New Mexico, both public and private, require initial approval and reapproval.
Substitute teacher preparation programs must also meet standards defined by statute, regulation, and policy. The approval process is also carried out in collaboration by the New Mexico Department of Public Instruction and the Professional Practice Standards Commission (PPSC).
