Tongue River and Sheridan HS Basketball: March Madness basketball begins one day early tomorrow, Leap Year Day, in both Sheridan and Casper.
Tongri River's girls and boys teams will play back-to-back games late tomorrow night and early tomorrow afternoon in the 2A state tournament in Casper.
The Lady Eagles will play Rocky Mountain at Casper College at 10:30 a.m., and the Eagles will play Big Piney at noon.
In Sheridan, various 4A East boys and girls basketball teams begin arriving tonight in preparation for the 4A East Regional Tournament, which begins tomorrow.
The game will tip off at 9am.
The Lady Broncs and Broncs will play back-to-back games starting with the girls vs. Laramie at 5 p.m. and the boys vs. Cheyenne South at 6:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday's schedule will be determined by Thursday's results.
Sheridan County High School Indoor Track and Field: The Wyoming State High School Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held this Friday and Saturday in Gillette.
Sheridan, Bighorn and Tongue River will also be participating.
Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
The Sheridan girls are the defending 4A state champions, and the Sheridan boys placed third last year.
Sheridan HS Girls Wrestling: Two Bronx women took home individual state titles.
Paitin Kovolo won his first state title at 135 pounds with a 6-5 decision over a Star Valley opponent he fought a month ago.
With 53 seconds left in the game, the score was 6-5, giving Kovolo the advantage.
All she had to do was hold out for those 53 seconds and make sure her opponent didn't break through.
When you're in that position, 53 seconds can seem like an eternity, she says.
Becca Etken won her second consecutive state championship, this time at 190 pounds, with an undefeated season.
The junior said this year was a little more difficult for her in terms of winning a state title since there were more competitors compared to her first year last year, but she's not complaining.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks conclude the regular season this weekend at home against Cody.
Puck drops both nights at 7:30 p.m.
Sheridan should win both games and get some help in the form of Rapid City and Great Falls losing their respective games in regulation.
If all of this happens, the Hawks could make the playoffs, depending on how the tiebreakers work out.
University of Wyoming Basketball: Last night, the Wyoming Cowboys rallied from a 10-point deficit early in the second half to force overtime at home against UNLV.
However, the Brown and Gold offense was unable to get the first field goal, forcing overtime to be delayed until about halfway through overtime.
At that point, the opponent held a sizable lead, and the Pokes would lose 75-69.
For Blue University, Brendan Wenzel added 20 points, Sam Griffin added 13 points, and Mason Walters added 12 points.
Wyoming is currently 13-15 on the season and 6-9 in the Mountain West Conference with three games left in the regular season.
Border Wars Part 2 takes place this Saturday at Colorado State University.
The Wyoming Cowgirls play at San Jose State University tonight.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game can be heard LIVE on FOX Sports 106.3 FM.
Colorado Rockies preseason baseball: Yesterday, the Colorado Rockies lost 4-3 to Kansas City.
The team's next game is today at home against the Los Angeles Angels.
The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won 5-1 at home last night against Dallas.
The Avs' next game is tomorrow in Chicago.
