A total of 21 Starbucks companies, including one in Christiansburg, filed to begin the unionization process in February. They sent a letter to Starbucks management demanding “higher wages, fair and consistent schedules, improved benefits, and a safe and dignified workplace,” according to a press release.
They want to join the already unionized 391 Starbucks, a group that includes The Bridges Starbucks in Roanoke. This total represents about 2% of the 16,352 Starbucks stores open in the U.S. as of Oct. 1.
