Highlights of Senator Marshall's interview include:
About the crisis at the southern border:
“But there are two very simple things: He can go back and stay in Mexico and stop his parole. Joe Biden has paroled more than 2 million illegal immigrants since becoming president. On the other hand, Presidents Trump and Obama put probably 10,000 or 20,000 people on parole in four years. So if they were to get off parole and stay in Mexico, probably about 80% of the people who cross Mexico illegally. They will be eliminated.”
“Our biggest trading partner right now is Mexico…We have a great trade program going forward with Mexico because of President Trump's US-MCA trade agreement. So let's leverage that.”
“Fortunately, the American people are much wiser than this. They realize that 10 million people have crossed the border illegally in the last three years and that today 300 Americans will die from fentanyl poisoning. Human trafficking is also exploding across the country.
“I have made it clear that I will not provide funds to Ukraine until we secure our borders. I truly believe in Americans First and the biggest issue for Americans is the safety of their own families. and concerns about safety.”
About the impending government shutdown:
“What everyone in America needs to understand is that Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer want to use the threat of a government shutdown as leverage to create legislation. We want an omnibus bill where we know where it's going to go and we can add money to Ukraine as well.”
“That's why I want a long-term fix. And we want to go back to the Budget Act of 1974, which sets certain deadlines for the president to submit a budget.”
“We haven't even finished this year's budget, let alone worked on next year's budget. Next year's presidential budget is overdue. So this is no way to run a business. No family is doing it like this.”
