PLATTSBURG — Lake Champlain Pools, Spas & Stoves is pleased to announce the start of its 50th anniversary as a locally owned and family-owned business in 2024.
“In 1976, I was looking for a business opportunity in Plattsburgh. I had experience in pool installation and had built pools in New Jersey and Nevada,” said George Hubbell, president of the company. Told.
“When the opportunity came to buy a local billiards company, I took the plunge, no joke, and never looked back.”
Since 1974
Lake Champlain Pool was founded in 1974 by Herb Carpenter, then Plattsburgh Police Chief. Purchased by Paul Green and his brother-in-law of Don G. Orchards in Peru, New York in his 1975 and sold to George He Havel in 1976.
Vice President Kay Hubbell said: We started selling spas in 1981, wood stoves in 2009, and saunas in 2000. ”

Mr Kay continued: “Daughters Erin and Christine joined our business in 2017. We are excited to keep the company going as a family and help a new generation of happy pool, stove, hot tub and sauna customers find the services that are right for them. , we couldn't be more pleased to provide them with the best products and services in their pursuit of health. ”
“It was a learning experience and a roller coaster ride, but it was so much fun,” Erin Hubbell said.
“It's a great feeling to see people who bought pools and spas go back to buying wood stoves, saunas and swim spas. We're proud to call the North Country home.”
Christine Havel added: “Aside from our wonderful customers, one of the keys to our success over the years has been our staff. We have seven people who have been with us for over 20 years, three of whom have been with us for over 20 years. People have been working for more than 10 years. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be here now.”
