Kearney — The Kearney Public Schools (KPS) Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Barth to the Board of Directors, effective immediately and serving until December 2024.
As a dedicated KPS parent, respected business owner, and active participant in Kearney's community activities, Amy Barth brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and innovative vision to the Board.
Amy Barth, owner of Just for Ladies Fitness and part-time audit manager at Contryman Associates, has been deeply involved in a variety of community activities. Her roles on the College Board and the Yanni Heritage Foundation, along with her volunteer work with organizations such as Junior Achievement and United Way, demonstrate her dedication to promoting community strength and educational excellence. We emphasize our efforts.
KPS Board of Education Chairman Steve Gersh expressed enthusiasm that Mr. Barth was selected from a highly qualified pool of 12 applicants, saying, “Mr. Barth was selected from a highly qualified pool of 12 applicants. Barth will fill the vacancy left by Dave Brandt, who resigned in January to take a new position as a science teacher at Kearney High School. He will serve out the remainder of Mr. Blunt's term and will seek election for the 2025-2029 term, aiming to continue his influential work on the board.
Upon taking up his post, Mr. Barth shared his enthusiasm and outlined his priorities: “I am honored to join the Kearny Public Schools Board of Education. I am deeply invested in ensuring our policies reflect the values of our families and communities. is expanding its educational offerings to incorporate niche areas such as social media, graphic design, engineering, and artificial intelligence, addressing additional school needs to accommodate growth, and student safety and well-being. This includes prioritizing.”
Mr. Barth's first school board meeting will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the KPS Administration Building, 320 West 24th Street, Kearney.
