NBC Sports California announced the hiring Tuesday. Chris Caray This season, he is working as a play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Athletics. Carey will be joined in the booth by Jenny Cavner, the A's new primary play-by-play voice, and Dallas Braden, who returns as color commentator.
Kavner, the first woman to lead an MLB team, will be the play-by-play commentator for approximately 95 games this season. Curry will be responsible for approximately 65 games, said Brian Potter, vice president of communications for NBCUniversal.
“Since I was 12 years old, I dreamed of becoming a major league announcer,” Carey said in a statement. “I am so happy that that dream has now come true. I am honored and proud to join the rich history of the Oakland Athletics franchise. I can’t wait to grow with California, Jenny Cavner, and Dallas Braden.”
Prior to joining the A's booth, Carey worked with his twin brother Stefan as the play-by-play voice for the Amarillo Sod Poodles, the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They began their career while attending the University of Georgia, where Chris served as director of WUOG, a student-run radio station from which he is now a graduate.

NBC's newest hire is the fourth generation of MLB broadcasters. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Chip, who is the current announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals. His grandfather is Skip, a former Atlanta Braves announcer. and his great-grandfather, baseball broadcasting icon Harry Caray.
Harry's career spanned 60 years, from 1945 to 1997, and included five MLB teams: the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Browns (now the Baltimore Orioles), Athletics, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Cubs.
