Matt Ritchie's first Premier League goal since 2020 gave Newcastle a dramatic point and denied Bournemouth their first top-flight win of 2024.
Eddie Howe's side went into stoppage time in the lead, but second-half substitute Ritchie scored from close range after the visitors failed to react properly to Bruno Guimarães' in-swinging shot.
Bournemouth will be extremely disappointed not to have taken all three points at St James' Park despite taking the lead twice in an entertaining and at times chaotic second period.
Dominic Solanke took advantage of Martin Dubravka's slip to break the deadlock, but Newcastle equalized seven minutes later with Anthony Gordon's controversial penalty.
Antoine Semenyo looked to have given Bournemouth their first win since December 26 with a powerful finish from just outside the penalty area, but it was winger Ritchie who had the final say against his former club.
Newcastle remain seventh in the table, but Bournemouth are nine points clear of the bottom three.
More to come.
