Shrewsbury – Central One Federal Credit Union recently donated $50,000 to African Community Education (ACE).
ACE is a community organization in Worcester dedicated to helping African refugee and immigrant youth and their families achieve educational and social stability.
Their programs include out-of-school and family education programs, mentorship opportunities, community support, and more.
Since ACE moved to its new facility, its programs and services have expanded. ACE currently provides outreach services to over 200 families and provides educational programs to over 120 adult learners and over 100 youth.
Central One's donation was in support of ACE's Living Together Campaign. This is a fundraising campaign to help renovate our new facility at 51 Gage St., expand our programs and services, and improve our long-term sustainability.

We invest in the financial future of the people we serve,” said Devon Ryan, President and CEO of Central One. he said. “We strongly believe that providing financial education to our members is not just a service, it is our duty. ACE's programs have done a great job of building stronger communities. When like-minded organizations come together to create impact, we all benefit. We are honored to support ACE's great work.”
Scholarship system
Central One also accepts applications for two scholarship programs: the Academic Scholarship and the Student Member Academic Scholarship.
Academic scholarships are available at Algonquin High School, Auburn High School, Milford High School, Shrewsbury High School, Westboro High School, and Worcester High School. A total of six scholarships will be awarded.
Student Member Academic Scholarship will be awarded $1,000. Available to students graduating in May and entering a four-year certificate program majoring in business and finance in the fall. Students are considered based on academic merit, school activities, community involvement, and need.
