head of Delaware Department of Education has nominated 93 scholars in 2024.
Education Secretary Mark Holodick selected the students based on continued academic achievement and community involvement.
“This represents one of the highest academic achievements a student can earn in a Delaware public school,” Holodick said Tuesday night at a dinner honoring the students in Dover.
The state has appointed an academic to the position of education secretary every year since 1984.
The number of scholars for each school is based on enrollment, and school principals nominate students based on academic performance, school leadership, and community service.
“All of the scholars here have achieved incredible success both inside and outside of the classroom, from extraordinary accomplishments on school athletic teams to community service and school leadership positions,” Holodick said. Stated. “These students are able to balance all the demands on their time while still studying and excelling academically.”
