CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As postseason play approaches for spring sports, there are many things to keep in mind. With baseball and softball playoffs starting this week and youth soccer starting next week, there's always the possibility of an upset. Let's take a look at four stories to watch this week.
1. A fateful date between Clarksville and Rossview
Throughout the 2023-24 baseball season, the Clarksville High Wildcats and Rossview High Hawks were two of the top teams in Tennessee. Entering the week of Monday, April 29, Rossview was ranked No. 3 in the state and Clarksville High School was ranked No. 4.
Both teams lost the season series and could meet again in the coming weeks. However, Kirkwood High School and Northeast High School may have something to say about it and have a chance to spoil the rematch.
2. Can someone play spoilers in Dickson County?
Kenwood High School, Northwest High School and West Creek High School will all begin their postseason journey to the district baseball tournament in Dixon, Tenn., at 14-4.
With the Henry County Patriots and Dickson County Cougars being the top two seeds, could the season be uprooted by Montgomery County schools?
3. Rossview boys soccer looks to extend its winning streak.
The Rossview High School boys soccer team has now won the district tournament several years in a row.
Clarksville High School and Kirkwood will be looking to end Rossview's winning streak as the Hawks head into the 2023-24 district tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. Will there be a new district champion or will the Hawks win it again?
4. Who is from the softball area?
Clarksville area softball teams have been competing all season in Districts 13-4A and 14-4A.
As in past years, each team will be tested to advance through district and regional tournaments. Can a team from the Clarksville area come out victorious?
